Ireland and Ulster man Tommy Bowe will be out for between four and six weeks after suffering a groin muscle tear on international duty.
A scan earlier this week picked up the problem and it means that the 29 year old will miss some vital Heineken Cup games for Ulster over the coming weeks.
However, he will be available for Six Nations selection once he returns to the field early next year.
